This evolving course plan consists of a series of EFL/¼ϲͶע worksheets based on business-related TED talks. In each lesson, students watch a talk, which can be played online via the lesson summary page or downloaded as a video file. Each worksheet includes several key vocabulary exercises followed by a discussion on the subject of the talk.

Building a good company

Upper-intermediate (B2-C1)

Students will watch a video by Human Resources Executive, Patty McCord who gives 8 lessons on how to build a company which people enjoy working for. Students will look at vocabulary connected to the video and answer comprehension questions. They will also use the information in the video to assess their own companies and personal work practices and suggest change and improvements.

The rise of Twitter

Upper-intermediate (B2-C1)

The theme of this lesson is the growth of the social networking tool Twitter. Students watch Evan Williams, co-founder of Twitter, talking about the reasons for Twitter’s popularity. Several idioms and phrases related to launching a business are studied. In the grammar section, emphatic structures used by the speaker are studied and practised. Mixed levels

Burnout and creativity

Stop remote work burnout

Advanced (C1-C2)

Students will watch a video talking about the effect that remote working can have on introverts by taking away their energy. It talks about how to manage tasks and the work day in a way that stops that from happening. Students will discuss introverted, extroverted and ambiverted characteristics, work on related vocabulary, and connected parts of speech. They will also complete a summary of the video and discuss how remote working has affected them and what they could do to limit the negative effects of remote working.
