This lesson will look at how to ask questions about patient health. There are two listening exercises with different types of activities. Students will learn ways to ask basic questions about health issues and personal details. The grammar will look at the present perfect continuous in question and statement form. Students will also have oral practice forming questions with a role play activity.

There are over 10 new B2 vocabulary items from the listening and reading. The grammar will review comparative and superlative adjectives.

The endocrine system

Intermediate (B1-B2)

This lesson talks about new therapies for Type 1 diabetes. It will also look at the global increase of Types 2 diabetes. Students will revise the use of the suffix “ness” and change adjectives to nouns. In the optional extension, there is a writing exercise and an extra listening activity.

The skeletal system

They will also learn about the importance of calcium and read about the effects of bone health in space. The new vocabulary is B2 level. Note: this is a pilot lesson from our new course in Medical English.

This worksheet focuses on general health and familiarises students with different expressions used by healthcare professionals and patients. Students look at the pictures related to healthcare and the current COVID-19 situation and learn useful phrases connected to the "patient-medical expert" relation. The lesson concludes with an additional task on dialogues, where students get an opportunity to practise their listening skills.
